This is my magazine advertisement :
I would place my magazine advert in Q magazine as it is a popular music magazine in the UK. It was founded by Mark Ellen and David Hepworth who wanted to bring a new magazine to older music buyers. Since then it has taken off in the UK. Up until 2012 it was also a TV channel.
Q has a big proportion dedicated to reviewing music. It also features new music releases, reissues music compilations, film and love concert review along with radio and television reviews. It also has a section for albums which is classes as the best new releases in the past three months. Q also has a lot of interviews with popular artist and is well known for making lists i.e "The 100 Greatest Albums". They also feature, with their sister magazine Mojo, a special edition about. Previously these have been about musical times, genres or influential musicians. Promotional gifts have been part of Q's history of promoting. For example the January 2006 issue included a free copy of "The Greatest Rock and Pop Miscellany … Ever!"

Every issue of Q has a different message on the spine. Readers then try to work out what the message has to do with the contents of the magazine. The "spine line" has since become commonplace among British lifestyle magazines, including Q's sister publication, Empire. Q has links with Glastonbury Festival and during the festival they produce a free daily newspaper on site and a review magazine which is available at the end of the festival.
In 2008 Q launched a radio station (Q Radio) which included shows such as 'Drivetime with Danielle Perry' and 'Q the 80s with Mattew Rudd'. It was transmitted on digital television and online. Coldplay helped in launching the station when they gave an exclusive interview on the launch day. However in 2013 the owners of Q Radio (Bauer Media) decided to use the stations bandwidth on various platforms and as a result, launched 'Kisstory', played on their spinoff brand 'Kiss'
Q have had many noticeable articles. For example, in 2006 they published a readers survey of the 100 Greatest Songs Ever. This was followed by 100 Greatest Singers in 2007 and in 2010 Lady Gaga posed topless in a shoot for the April issue. This ended up banned by some stores in the US due to her revealing too much of her breast.
Although Q is typically aimed at the older generations, with sources ranging from 25 - 45 years old, and this does fit my all of my target audience (teenagers to adults) it does target part of my audience. This magazine was originally targeted for people who love rock and role but more recently it has had some of the worlds biggest artists from a range of genres e.g U2, Adele, Oasis, Rihanna, Radiohead, Lady Gaga and more. This makes me believe that I could put my artist in this magazine and it wouldn't be completely out of place. You could argue that there are other magazines that are specifically for the genre of my artist but Q has a lot to offer which other magazines may not necessarily have. For example it is the UK's number one actively purchased music magazine, it is a trusted influential - meaning that a good review from Q could make the artists career. It also gets seen around the world, therefore targeting people out side of the UK. Q also has a multi media platform with around 10 brand extensions which could be used for advertising to the many audiences of Q. It is also the only magazine that can give you advertising access at Glastonbury which is one of the biggest, if not the biggest music festival in the UK. This is why I would chose Q to advertise my digipak and artist.
I would most likely place my advert in the beginning to first half of the magazine as quite often people fail to read the whole of a magazine. This therefore would ensure that my digipak is being seen and hopefully remembered. Another reason I would place it here is because magazines are often found in waiting rooms were people never tend to have the time to get past the first half of the magazine before being called into their appointment So again this would ensure that it gets seen.
